Habitare, the largest furniture, interior decoration and design fair in Finland, is held every autumn at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre. The five-day event has established its position on the Finnish design scene. The history of the Habitare fair goes back to 1970, and in 2013 it will bring together the general public and professionals to celebrate design for the 24th time.
The event focuses on the interior design and function of homes and public spaces. The main product groups, exhibited in their own areas, include furniture; interior textiles; interior decoration materials and supplies; kitchens; bathrooms and saunas; fireplaces and furnaces; interior decoration accessories; and home theatre and AV equipment. The Ahead! area will act as a stage for international design. The Habitare ensemble is complemented by Interiore, an area focusing on public spaces; Valo Light, an event focusing on light fittings and lighting; ArtHelsinki, a high-profile contemporary art fair; and Salon, a curated antique exhibition. All events and exhibition areas can be accessed with the same ticket.
As a special area for design, Ahead! will have a key role as an effective commercial, marketing and communications channel.
